In 2005, Chris LaBossiere and Don Riep took their flight exams. It felt like an ordeal from the 1970s. Why wasn’t the testing done online? Why wasn’t it better? They looked up at the sky, and down at the new licenses in their hands. They had an idea that soared far beyond flying, an idea that will uplift a billion learners.

When we launched Yardstick in 2005, we were a small practice exam company with a big idea: that rigorous and creative online testing could change whole industries, and help candidates pursue their dreams. Since then, we’ve grown, acquired, and invented award-winning approaches to psychometrics, technology and certification. We’re still growing, still building a safer, more confident world, one assessment at a time.
In 2017, Yardstick’s testing division acquired Assessment Strategies Inc., Canada’s first homegrown full-service professional testing company. The teams united under the common banner of Yardstick Assessment Strategies, forming the strongest group of testing professionals ever assembled in Canada.
